Our Beginning
In 2021, Common Call San Diego began over lunch at a Mexican restaurant in Old Town. In January of 2021, the La Mesa Church of Christ was faced with the difficult decision of selling their building. They knew it was the right choice, but questions remained. Where would they go? What would they do now? It was then that the leadership at La Mesa Church of Christ reached out to Heritage 21, seeking guidance and direction.
Our Team
After some initial collaboration, representatives from Heritage 21 Foundation and Kairos Church Planting gathered to help La Mesa Church of Christ forge a new vision and future. At the conclusion of their planning, a member of the San Diego Christian Foundation was invited to lunch. The fellowship and conversation fostered a sense of divine alignment. At the prompting of the Holy Spirit, we were inspired to begin a partnership that would seek to establish new churches and revitalize existing ones in San Diego County.
Our Approach
With La Mesa’s building sold, they established a plan to
re-launch as Kindred Church, with renewed vision and purpose. They allocated half of the building sale proceeds to the Common Call endeavor.
Additionally, the San Diego Christian Foundation Board committed substantial time and financial resources to this cooperative effort. While Heritage21 has stepped in as steward of resources, providing guidance and connections to accomplish our mission.
Common Call Founders
Kindred Church, San Diego Christian Foundation and Heritage 21 are partners with their roots forming from within the network of the churches of Christ and are united in their shared aspiration for the expansion of the Kingdom and progress in the city.
